Proverbs 9:1-6

The Way of Wisdom

9 ^(A)Wisdom has built her house;
    she has hewn her ^(B)seven ^(C)pillars.
²She has ^(D)slaughtered her beasts; she has ^(E)mixed her wine;
    she has also ^(F)set her table.
³She has ^(G)sent out her young women to ^(H)call
    from ^(I)the highest places in the town,
⁴^(J)“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!”
    ^(K)To him who lacks sense she says,
⁵“Come, ^(L)eat of my bread
    and ^(M)drink of ^(N)the wine I have mixed.
⁶Leave ^(O)your simple ways,^[a] and ^(P)live,
    ^(Q)and walk in the way of insight.”

He Heals the Brokenhearted

147 ^(A)Praise the Lord!
For ^(B)it is good to sing praises to our God;
    for ^(C)it is pleasant,^[a] and ^(D)a song of praise is fitting.
²The Lord ^(E)builds up Jerusalem;
    he ^(F)gathers the outcasts of Israel.
³He heals ^(G)the brokenhearted
    and ^(H)binds up their wounds.
⁴He ^(I)determines the number of the stars;
    he ^(J)gives to all of them their names.
⁵^(K)Great is our Lord, and ^(L)abundant in power;
    ^(M)his understanding is beyond measure.
⁶The Lord ^(N)lifts up the humble;^[b]
    he casts the wicked to the ground.

⁷^(O)Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;
    make melody to our God on ^(P)the lyre!
⁸He covers the heavens with clouds;
    he prepares ^(Q)rain for the earth;
    he makes ^(R)grass grow on the hills.
⁹He ^(S)gives to the beasts their food,
    and to ^(T)the young ravens that cry.
¹⁰His delight is not in ^(U)the strength of the horse,
    nor his pleasure in the legs of a man,
¹¹but the Lord ^(V)takes pleasure in those who fear him,
    in those who ^(W)hope in his steadfast love.

¹²Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem!
    Praise your God, O Zion!
¹³For he strengthens ^(X)the bars of your gates;
    he blesses your children within you.
¹⁴He ^(Y)makes peace in your borders;
    he ^(Z)fills you with the ^(AA)finest of the wheat.
¹⁵He ^(AB)sends out his command to the earth;
    his word runs swiftly.
¹⁶He gives ^(AC)snow like wool;
    he scatters ^(AD)frost like ashes.
¹⁷He hurls down his crystals of ^(AE)ice like crumbs;
    who can stand before his ^(AF)cold?
¹⁸He ^(AG)sends out his word, and melts them;
    he makes his wind blow and the waters flow.
¹⁹He declares his word to Jacob,
    his ^(AH)statutes and rules^[c] to Israel.
²⁰He ^(AI)has not dealt thus with any other nation;
    they do not know his rules.^[d]

³But ^(A)sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness ^(B)must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. ⁴Let there be ^(C)no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, ^(D)which are out of place, but instead ^(E)let there be thanksgiving. ⁵For you may be sure of this, that ^(F)everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (^(G)that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. ⁶^(H)Let no one ^(I)deceive you with empty words, for because of these things ^(J)the wrath of God comes upon ^(K)the sons of disobedience. ⁷Therefore ^(L)do not become partners with them; ⁸for ^(M)at one time you were ^(N)darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. ^(O)Walk as children of light ⁹(for ^(P)the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), ¹⁰and ^(Q)try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. ¹¹^(R)Take no part in the ^(S)unfruitful ^(T)works of darkness, but instead ^(U)expose them. ¹²For ^(V)it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. ¹³But when ^(W)anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, ¹⁴for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says,

^(X)“Awake, O sleeper,
and ^(Y)arise from the dead,
and ^(Z)Christ will shine on you.”

⁵³So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of ^(A)the Son of Man and drink his blood, you ^(B)have no life in you. ⁵⁴Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood ^(C)has eternal life, and ^(D)I will raise him up on the last day. ⁵⁵For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. ⁵⁶Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood ^(E)abides in me, and I in him. ⁵⁷As ^(F)the living Father ^(G)sent me, and ^(H)I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me. ⁵⁸^(I)This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread^[a] the fathers ate, and died.
